  A Few RANDOM Things

A New Inkjet Printer:  Coming in Feb. 2004, the Epson Stylus Photo R800 will use eight individual ink cartridges of "Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss" pigment ink.  It is expected to produce prints that will not fade for at least 80 years.  Fading has been a problem for most Ink Jet printers until recently.  The R800 produces the smallest droplets of ink giving it the highest quality photos of any Epson printer.  It will print directly on ink jet printable CD/DVDs.  It is expected to sell for about $399.

The three best inkjet printers in the world:  Now that the gift giving season is over perhaps you are thinking of giving yourself a gift of a new printer.  Here are my choices.

The HP 7960 has 8 individual tanks for ink.  It prints stunning black and white photos and gives the best color photos of any HP printer ever made.  It accepts individual digital camera storage cards for direct printing without using a computer. Sells for about $300.

The Canon i900D  has 6 individual ink tanks and has slots for storage cards from digital cameras for direct printing without using a computer.  Sells for about $240.

Which is the best?  If you want archival inks and the ability to print on CDs, the Epson.  Otherwise I would probably choose the HP. However you can't go wrong with the Canon.
