Dear CUGGers,   Our regular second-Saturday meeting is coming up this Saturday, October 8th, same time, same place: 1:00 pm to 3:30pm, Classroom 2, Greeley Senior Activity Center, 1010 6th Street. If you' been following Lowell Shatraw's tips in our email, you know that they are important and useful when you need them. Lowell has an advanced sense of what's needed. He's been working with computers for a long, long time - as an IT professional, teaching at Aims, and founding CUGG. Our group started when Lowell asked his students if they would like to get together once in a while on an informal basis to discuss computers. So he knows what our problems are and what to do about them. He's selected the most important of his recent tips to review with us and answer any questions we might have. Mike Minton, the attorney and CUGG Board member who dedicates his working hours to defending clients against evil in its many forms, will review and explain two important defenses for our computers: Systems Sweeper and Security Scanner. We all need to understand these, and not take security for granted. Don Wiegel will show us his choice of Gadgets for the month. This is Don's way of introducing us to tech- nologies he sees in our future, as well as clever ideas that are fun to see. Don also announces the schedule of his Special Interest Group get together.  Because these meetings are usually small - 3 to 9 people, or occasionally 1 or 2 - they are a special opportunity to discuss your problems with a professional IT "expert" and professional photographer who enjoys helping  others. Jerry Neff will review the tech world's month in the light of what he saw and heard that seemed important to him. Jerry is a retired professor and school superintendent. It will be interesting to see what he's picked as noteworthy. Free parking is available west of the Senior Center.   See you there!
